The Arcade Building is located in the centre of the resort park and is one of the most significant landmarks of the famous resort town of Bad Kissingen. The building, now under monument protection, was constructed from 1834 to 1838 by the architect Friedrich von Gärtner.
Protective place
King Ludwig I. commissioned the construction of the Arcade Building to create a place for guests and celebrities where they were protected from sun exposure, bad weather and wind. As early as 1833, there were initial meetings between the architect and King Ludwig, and only one year later construction work started. The first representative spa resort building in Bad Kissingen was built from sandstone in the Florentine Early Renaissance style. The prominent semi-circular arch arcades give the building its name.
The building is framed by the Spa Waters Hall and Colonnade on the left and the attached Regal Building on the right. Coming from the direction of the resort park, the bust of the Bavarian King Ludwig and two large fountains that enframe the stoop to the tourist information office decorate the front of the Arcade Building. The Arcade Building houses the famous Rossini Hall, which is used for various events.
