The theatre is the first of many more buildings in Bad Kissingen planned by the architect Max Littmann from Munich.
Theatre performances started in 1778
The first theatre operations in Bad Kissingen were sanctioned by the Prince-Bishop Adam Friedrich of Sensheim in 1778. In the following years, theatre became more and more popular, so a dedicated building had to be built.
In a tight space, Max Littmann managed to design a building in Franconian Baroque style, by using the existing space in the best possible manner and thus created seating accommodation for 538 guests.
During a performance, you will be mesmerised by the artists on stage but also by the theatre hall: the walls revetted in green fabric, the painting on the ceiling by the painter Julius Mössel and the many stucco ornaments make the experience unique.
